Rabbi Melissa Hoffman

(she/her/hers)

Director of Programs & Policy
Melissa@jewishfoodethics.org

I am privileged to have worked at the intersection of Jewish communities and food system education and advocacy since 2015. A possible pioneer in holding both credentials, I received my rabbinic ordination from AJRCA and earned my M.S. in Animals and Public Policy from Tufts University. In my role as Director of Programs and Policy, I teach, develop curriculum, and consult with Jewish communities across the country to implement ethical food practices. My writing on Jewish animal and food ethics has been published in Jewish Telegraphic Agency, The Forward, Jewish Journal, and others. Outside of CJFE, I host potlucks, safely stalk wildlife, provide spiritual care, and hang with my animals, partner, and foster kiddo/s in Denver, Colorado.
